  • From 11 to 15 November 2024, the “20th Multiphase Flow Conference & Short Course” took place at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) in Dresden. Mr. Zhenhui Liu took part in the short course and Mr. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Skoda and Mr. Tobias Gianfelice took part in the conference. Mr. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Skoda contributed with a presentation titled “Investigating the Effect of Droplet Size on the Fluctuation Velocity of Single Droplets Suspended in Forced Homogeneous Isotropic Turbulent Flow”.

20241105 Kavitationskolloquium Konferenzbild

  • The 5th Colloquium on Cavitation and Cavitation Erosion took place on 05/06 November 2024 at the Ruhr University Bochum. The 5th colloquium was jointly organised by the Institute of Ship and Marine Technology (University of Duisburg-Essen), the Chair of Materials Testing (Ruhr University Bochum) and the HSM.   • We are pleased to welcome Mr. Jonas Stürznickel to our team as a research associate on November 1, 2024. Mr Stürznickel will be engaged in the developement of flow measurement technology, in particular pneumatic and hydraulic multi-hole probes.

  • To strengthen our team, we are looking for a Research Associate / Post-Doc (m/f/d) for the development of 3D flow simulation methods (CFD) - The effect of alcohol fuels on cavitation and spray formation in maritime high-pressure injection devises .   • To strengthen our team, we are looking for a Research Associate (m/f/d) for the unsteady flow simulation (3D CFD) and local entropy evaluation for loss quantification in hydraulic turbomachinery. Further information can be found under job advertisements.

  • The three lectures of the chair 'Turbulence Modelling' (MA-MB, Vl.-No. 137365), 'Gasdynamics' (MA-MB, Vl.-No. 139310) and 'CFD in der Praxis' (BA-MB, Vl.-No. 135010) will take place in presence in the winter semester 2024/2025. 'Turbulence Modelling' and 'Gasdynamics' will be read in English as part of the English master's degree 'Sustainable Energy Systems & Circular Process Engineering'. In addition, the specialised laboratories 'Measurement of pressure distribution of the NACA profile' and 'Automotive aerodynamics' are offered.
