The defence of Mr. Mario Hermes doctoral thesis on "Interface-resolving Direct Numerical Simulation of Droplet-Laden Forced Homogeneous Isotropic Turbulent Flow for the Assessment of Droplet Fluctuation Velocity Approximations in Coalescence and Breakup Kernels" will take place on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 9:00 AM in room IC 3-156. We are pleased to welcome Mr. Luis Mann to our team as a research associate on April 1, 2026. Mr. Mann will focus on analyzing local entropy production from 3D flow simulation results to conduct a local analysis of losses in centrifugal pumps and identify opportunities for improving efficiency under partial and overload conditions.

On 5 and 6 March 2026, the annual „Kolloquium Fluidenergiemaschinen“ (FEM-Kol.) took place at the Technical University of Wien. In addition to Prof. Dr.-Ing. Skoda and Dr.-Ing. Paßmann, Mr. Tobias Gianfelice and Mr. Jonas Stürznickel took part in the colloquium. Mr. Tobias Gianfelice delivered a talk titled „Ganzheitliche 3D Strömungssimulation des hydroakustischen Übertragungsverhaltens eines kavitierenden Hydroprofils” and Mr. Jonas Stürznickel delivered current results in his presentation titled „Konzept und Machbarkeitsstudie einer neuartigen Mehrlochsonde für simultane Druck- und Geschwindigkeitsmessungen in Strömungen mit starken Totaldruckgradienten“
